I began my nutrition career almost 10 years ago with two seasons in professional rugby with Worcester Warriors. Acting as a Performance Nutritionist, I delivered nutritional support and testing to the first team squad, as well as providing support and advice to the academy players.
I was then fortunate to work in a multi-disciplinary team at The North Face building a European community of city explorers who wanted to challenge themselves in the great outdoors. More recently, I helped Rouen Rugby Club in France review and advance their nutritional philosophy and contribute to the educational nutritional artwork around the training ground and stadium.
My experience as a nutrition practitioner is therefore heavily grounded in sports nutrition. However, more recently I have trained as a Nutritional Therapist in order to work in the corporate wellness sector in private healthcare in London. It is here that I work with the ‘9-5 Athlete’ , someone who works full time but also takes their sport, fitness, health and longevity seriously and trains like a full time athlete on the side. I have found working with this particular type of person extremely rewarding – there are so many moving parts and it is my job to decide which nutrition tools are appropriate, effective and manageable in order to produce results.
On a personal level, I like to run one ultra marathon a year. My focus for each race is to enjoy the 3-4 months of training beforehand and complete the challenge for myself, coming out the other side injury free.
I am a deep-rooted foodie and cook as a result of my upbringing.
My mum ran a catering company and my sister is a ridiculously talented pastry chef. Big feed ups at home are an institution when I head back to Suffolk. Stay in touch on my Instagram and I promise you’ll find something delicious and simple.
